Green Hydrogen
Solar-powered hydrogen production for Singapore's decarbonization
Project Overview
ERA is developing a green hydrogen production facility in the Riau Islands, co-located with our utility-scale solar and battery storage project. By leveraging dedicated renewable energy and electrolyzer technology, we will produce certified green hydrogen for export to Singapore and regional markets.
Why LOHC?
Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carriers (LOHC) enable safe, cost-effective hydrogen transport at ambient conditions. Unlike compressed or liquefied hydrogen, LOHC can be shipped using existing tanker infrastructure—no high-pressure tanks or cryogenic systems required.
Safe & Stable
Non-flammable at ambient conditions. Can be stored and transported like diesel fuel.
Existing Infrastructure
Uses standard chemical tankers and storage tanks. No specialized hydrogen infrastructure needed.
Circular System
Carrier liquid is returned and reused after hydrogen release, minimizing waste and cost.
Short Sea Shipping
Ideal for Riau-Singapore route (~50km). Quick turnaround enables efficient supply chain.
Aligned with Singapore's Hydrogen Strategy
Singapore aims to import up to 50% of its energy from low-carbon sources by 2050, with hydrogen playing a key role. ERA's project supports this through:
- ✓Proximity advantage: Short shipping distance from Riau Islands to Singapore
- ✓100% renewable: Dedicated solar generation ensures certified green hydrogen
- ✓Scalable: Initial 20 t/day with pathway to expand based on demand
- ✓Industrial applications: Supporting Singapore's hard-to-abate sectors
Target Markets
Industrial
Refineries, chemicals, semiconductors
Maritime
Bunkering for green shipping corridors
Power
Hydrogen-ready turbines, fuel cells
EMA Low-Carbon Hydrogen Pathway
ERA is actively engaging with Singapore's Energy Market Authority on the regulatory framework for hydrogen imports, positioning our project as a pathfinder for the region's emerging hydrogen economy.
